Easter in the mind of a 5 year old

We had a great Easter! We somehow managed to avoid the rain. I've attached some pictures for your viewing pleasure. I have to share what Jillian told us after church this morning. This is what she said, word for word:

"Mary went to where Jesus was dead and dug and dug until she saw that he was missing. So she e-mailed everyone to tell them he was gone. She started crying and this man said to her, "Why are you crying?" She said, "Because Jesus is gone!" The man said, "I am Jesus!" And they lived happily ever after."

At least she understood the main idea of the story!

Public school and other updates

Once again, I have neglected my blog. And I actually have so much to tell! We are expecting our third baby girl in June. The pregnancy has gone very well so far and Jillian and Jorja are excited to meet their new sister. Our biggest conceern is coming up with another "J" name! We have several on our list, but none that we can agree on. Hopefully we will come up with something in the next three months!

The girls are doing great. Jorja is now potty trained, which means we finally have a short break after changing diapers for the past 5 years. It is such a habit now, we really don't know any different. Jorja is still convinced that she is actually Dorothy. She is still such a sweetheart, and definitely has her daddy wrapped around her finger.

Jillian is just Jillian. If you don't know her, she is hard to explain. She is smart, sweet, strong-willed, and exactly like her Aunt Jennifer! She talks non-stop and people often comment that she has "lots of personality". In other words, she is a drama queen who keeps us laughing when we are not crying. (That should make sense to anyone who has a child like her!) We love her to pieces, but I have to tell you what she did recently that had us in stitches:

Jillian is a pre-k student at the elementary school where I am an assistant principal. Recently, her class got to attend a fourth grade awards assembly. During the assembly, the fourth graders were having math races and were chanting for each other. I noticed Jillian and her friend Emily chanting along. After the assembly, as they left the auditorium they were still chanting. As I walked into the hallway, I was able to hear what these four year olds were actually saying. They were chanting, "Fourth grade sucks!" over and over and pumping their fists into the air with big smiles on their faces. As I approached them, they continued as if this were absolutely normal. When I said to them, "Girls! What are you saying?", Jillian immediately pointed to her sweet friend and said, "She told me to say it. I don't even know what it means!" I know I shouldn't find this at all funny, but Emily has older brothers in middle school, and little ears pick up on such words! Emily's mom also works at my school and was completely mortified by the event!

Both girls have birthdays coming up in the next couple of months and I will try to get some new pictures posted soon.

6th Photo in 6th File

This picture was taken in December 2006. This is Jillian and her best friend Gunner decorating a gingerbread house. This is not the best picture of either one of them, but it is still cute! This is a tradition that we have started with our friends, the Browns. They come over when the Cowboys are playing on the NFL Network and while the guys are watching the game, the moms and kids decorate a gingerbread house. It is a lot of fun!

How Do You Know My Name?

I finally figured out how to upload this cute background. Yea!!

The strangest thing happened on Friday. Gooch and I got a wedding shower invitation for a couple in Amarillo. The weird thing is, we have no idea who they are. We have never heard of them or any of the hostesses. The really weird thing is that it was addressed to Chris, Jodi, Jillian and Jorja Alderete. All of our names were spelled correctly and they had our correct address. Freaky! Hope they aren't expecting a gift!

I had a funny conversation with one of Jorja's daycare teachers the other day. She is from another country and has an accent, which made the conversation even funnier. It went like this:

DCT: Jorja talks about your husband all the time.

Me: Really, she talks a lot about daddy?

DCT: Well, she always talks about Gooch.

Me: Oh, that is his nickname.

DCT: She walks around all the time saying, "My Gooch!"

She is too sweet. Jillian's class wore caps on Friday because they were studying the letter C. She doesn't own any caps, but I have a swim cap from my "triathlon days". She insisted on wearing it, so she walked around all day looking like this:

Our Busy Schedule

Well, I might just be the worst blogger ever! School started, dance started, soccer started and choir started, and I just can't seem to find the time in between. Jillian started PreK in August. After much consideration, I decided to take her to my school with me. She loves it and I know we made the right decision. She wears a uniform and it is pretty fun to accessorize with bows, tights, and socks. I've added a couple of pictures below. Jillian also started dance. She takes ballet and tap. Not necessarily my field of expertise, but she loves it so I play along. She has her first soccer game tomorrow. Somehow I wound up being her coach. My soocer experience consists of watching a couple of Connor's soccer games when he was 8 or 9. I have absolutely no idea what I am doing, but no one else wanted to coach so I volunteered. It gives me an interesting perspective on my own child. Her teachers when she was in daycare used to call her "Party Girl". I never quite understood why. Now I get it. She runs up and down the field screaming, "Woo-hoo!" and giggling the whole time. She seems to truly enjoy herself, but it is quite a site to see.

Jorja is my same sweet, happy Jorja. She floats through her days with a smile on her face, following and mimicking Jillian every chance she gets. She loves The Wizard of Oz and spaghetti. The picture below proves it!

Everyone else is doing well. I have a new niece! Joie Kathryn was born August 5. She is very sweet and I am so glad Jennifer and Joey have a little girl!

That is about all I know for now. I will try to be better about blogging...
